At Wysing in June we were joined by artists from Syllabus VII, our alternative learning programme, for their first gathering. This gathering focused on three areas: Dreaming, Practicing, and Structures. Across the weekend, the group reflected on how they would like to work together over the next ten months, drawing on their individual experiences of collaboration. 

As part of the weekend, the cohort participated in a reading group focused around ‘Undrowned’ (Chapter 2: Breathe) by Alexis Pauline Gumbs and ‘Minerva the Miscarriage of the Brain’ (pages 139-141) by Joanna Hedva. This was followed by a film night in Wysing's Farmhouse which continued themes within the readings. They watched ‘Last Angel of History’, 1996, Dir. John Akomfrah (45 mins) and ‘Deep Down Tidal’, 2017, Dir. Tabita Rezaire (18 mins).  

The next gathering will take place with Syllabus partner Eastside Projects, Birmingham from the 2-4 August!
