Damián Flores makes paintings, prints, objects, murals and installations. He incorporates Mexican cultural and folkloric themes in his work, as seen with his use of wrestling motifs in his series Arena México. In recent years, Flores has focused more on Oaxaca's political situation, as evidenced by his 2008 series Welcome To Oaxaca.
Flores studied at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He has exhibited at large institutions internationally, including Museo de Arte Moderno, Cd. de México, 2010. In 2008, Flores founded the Taller Gráfica Actual in Oaxaca, a cooperative/educational space dedicated to the promotion and investigation of the graphic arts. He is also founder and creative director of La Curtiduría art gallery in Oaxaca, which opened in 2006.
For ‘Untitled’, Flores worked with Arts Exchange, Colchester, as part of the Eastern Pavilions print portfolio.
The Eastern Pavilions print portfolio is a boxed set of 12 Limited Edition artists’ prints in an edition of 144. Each print is signed and hand-numbered by the artist.
The portfolio was collaboratively commissioned by visual arts organisations from across the East of England in 2011. Each organisation worked with an artist who has a connection to the region or the gallery programme.
For the first time, each print is available to purchase separately for £180, including UK postage and packing.
