Wysing Summer School 2024
Over four days in August a group of local young people aged 13 to 19 joined us for Summer School.

Led by artist Niki Colclough, the group were encouraged to create, play and connect with the more-than-human world around us through a series of sessions including:
- Using collages and concrete poetry to connect to nature
- Forrest Bathing in the meadows
- Foraging for blackberries and making our own cordial
- Creating a collaborative soundtrack using field recordings from across the site
- Building our own, unique candle holders out of terracotta clay
- Experimenting with imprinting natural objects into clay
- Reflecting on walking as an artistic practice and playing walking games
- Designing and decorating placards with hopes for our future or messages about the environment
- Making a psychogeography map of Wysing’s site
We concluded the week with a celebration ritual of our own invention. We decorated our chosen nature spot in the Wysing woodlands with the work we’d made, drank the blackberry cordial and lit our ceramic candles to celebrate all we’d achieved.
