Cambridge Artworks
Private view, Friday 26 May at 6pm
A group of talented young artists from Girton are exhibiting their work at a Cambridge Artworks Gallery as part of the Circuit Cambridge project.
Beyond the Brick is a group exhibition including work by Kyle Warwick, Jamie O’Brien, Kienan Naylor and Kieran O’Brien.
The group of young artists whose practices range from photography, screen printing and tattoo art, are aged between 16 and 24. As members of the Girton Youth Project, they have spent the past four months preparing for Beyond The Brick exhibition. The group describe the main body of work as ‘urban art’ – art inspired by street youth culture and created using screen printing, painting, graffiti and photography.
The young artists have not taken the usual educational route into their creative practice, instead they have found inspiration from the rest of the world, their connection being through street art, urban art, culture and Graffiti.
The work includes photography, screen print, video and tattooing.
The project is curated by artist and former Circuit Cambridge member, Jack Cornell.
Private view, open to the public, on Friday 26 May at 6pm. The exhibition continues on the 27 and 28 of May.
