Tuesday 20 May 2014, 4.30-6.30pm
Please join us for an informal, creative and inspiring evening for teachers.
Teachers are invited to come to share, think, talk, realx and make.
Come and enjoy Wysing’s latest exhibition, Hey, I’m Mr. Poetic introduced by Bryony Graham, Producer, Children and Young Peoples Programme. Followed by Artist Rob Smith leading activities designed to inspire your own creativity and teaching practice.
The exhibition presents a playful take on what artists do and make and what histories and stories can be told institutionally and artistically. Via art works, objects, images and experiences are rethought, reordered and recreated, to make the ordinary extraordinary, or the mundane revelatory.
"Hey, I'm Mr. Poetic,
A worker in aesthetics,
I work to make the mundane mysterious,
I work to make the unimportant serious”
The Poetics (Mike Kelley and Tony Oursler)
This is an opportunity to explore ideas about working cross-curricula with Maths, English, Languages, Art, Philosophy and Science and explore how this approach can be taken back into the classroom. Participants will also be able to visit our onsite work spaces and so understand better how schools, students and Wysing may work together.
Refreshments will be provided, tea, coffee and cake on arrival and wine as the evening closes.
Suitable for teachers of any age group and subject.
Places are free. Booking recommended. To book a place please visit our Eventbrite page here.
There are three Teacher Retreat Inset Evenings in this series. Teachers are invited to attend the whole series or individual dates.
