'It Moves We Move I Move’ aims to build confidence, getting people back into their body and moving for fun, connection and wellbeing. It aims to open up the poetic quality of their body in movement, enabling expression, creativity and awareness.

This will be an interactive workshop, where together, we will explore how movement facilitates interactions, awareness and relationship to space and each other, playfully creating an embodied temporal community. We will use familiar found objects as a stimulus to help us to move, at the same time, becoming more aware of our environment and those around us, reconnecting with the joy that movement can bring to the everyday.

What you will learn on this course:

- Building confidence in physical movement
- Bringing attention to your expressive body
- Understanding the poetics of your body
- Finding beauty in the everyday environment and the way you interact with it
- Awareness of your body posture and body movements.

Safety Notes: This workshop involves gentle movement, so wear comfortable clothing and sensible shoes.

Materials: Please bring a rolling pin. All other objects/materials will be provided.

Format: Day course 10am–4pm with a break for lunch.

Lunch: Please bring your own packed lunch. Tea, coffee and water will be available throughout the day.

Fees: £85 per person

Transport: We have ample parking on site. Public bus services run hourly from Cambridge (No. 18 from Drummer Street) to Bourn Village Monday to Saturday. Wysing is a 15-minute walk from Bourn, but please note this is along a busy road. Visit our website here for more transport information.

Tutor Biography: Loreto Valenzuela was born in Santiago, Chile. Her practice spans physical theatre, performance arts, participatory art, drawings, paintings and video installations. She approaches her practice with curiosity, a rainbow fish-eye and sometimes like a domestic octopus. At the moment she is interested in adapt-ability and resilience. How uncertainty brings us closer to understanding multiple perspectives of the world and its people.

She holds a BA in Drama & English Studies from Anglia Ruskin University Cambridge and a MA in Performance practice as research form Central School of Speech and Drama London. Her curiosity and autonomous practice has led her to extend her learning through taking part in different courses and collaborations (selected): Odin Teatret in Bristol, Festival of ideas Cambridge, Wolfson Performing Arts Society, The Shop XVIII Cambridge, Cambridge Sustainability Residency and Cambridge Science Festival. She has recently extended her movement practice in Freiburg Germany taking part in LaborManifest #9 & #12 and performed her new working in progress piece un.certain.T at gvbk Freiburg 2022. She is in the pool of artists freelancers at Kettles Yard Cambridge and now pleased to lead a course at Wysing Arts Centre Bourn.
