A Celebration of Life for Lorna O'Brien

Please join us on Saturday 22 March for a Celebration of Lorna O’Brien’s life (1969-2024). Lorna was Wysing’s former Deputy Director.

Lorna brought compassion, humour, wisdom and thoughtfulness to everything she did. This day will mark her life and celebrate her legacy.

The day will begin at 2pm, with refreshments, followed by a welcome, and reflections. You are invited to bring thoughts, memories or something else that you would like to share, quietly or out loud. This could be from your own experience, a short poem, a song - or any other tribute that feels meaningful to you. After we have gathered, we will plant a tree together in Wysing’s grounds.

We’ll end the day by 4:30pm.

Alexis Parinas
There are so many seeds, so many stars (2024)
10 September 2024 - 7 September 2025

There are so many seeds, so many stars is a new commission by Alexis Parinas, an artist working across moving image, printing, painting and installation. It was developed in collaboration with 230, Year 7 students from St Peter’s School, Huntington. Combining the students’ interest in film and storytelling, Parinas worked with them in 18 workshops, across an academic year.  They were invited to create new worlds together through storytelling before translating them into vivid, kaleidoscopic moving images by applying felt tips directly onto 35mm film.
