Terry Brooks 1951-2024

We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Terry Brooks, Wysing Arts Centre’s co-founder and longest-standing Trustee. Terry died peacefully with his family around him, on 22 December 2024, after living with COPD for many years.

In 1989, Terry co-founded Wysing with Jenny Brooks, and artists Annie and Age Bunnettat, developing Wysing Grange Farm into low-cost artist studios, and later, staging events and exhibitions. Providing affordable studio space and meaningful opportunities for artists and publics remains central to Wysing’s mission.

Beyond his role as a dedicated Trustee, Terry was a frequent and enthusiastic visitor, attending nearly every event and engaging actively with Wysing’s community. He embraced new ideas and approaches with exceptional curiosity and excitement. Terry’s contributions to Wysing were immeasurable, and his kind, supportive presence will be missed by all who knew him.

Alexis Parinas
There are so many seeds, so many stars (2024)
10 September 2024 - 7 September 2025

There are so many seeds, so many stars is a new commission by Alexis Parinas, an artist working across moving image, printing, painting and installation. It was developed in collaboration with 230, Year 7 students from St Peter’s School, Huntington. Combining the students’ interest in film and storytelling, Parinas worked with them in 18 workshops, across an academic year.  They were invited to create new worlds together through storytelling before translating them into vivid, kaleidoscopic moving images by applying felt tips directly onto 35mm film.
